I recently was given a copy of "Signs of the Times" from the Seventh Day
Adventists. One article advises us to "try logic" and that "faith isn't meant
to be senseless" and then brings out a series of standard creationist
arguments about why Genesis is literally true. I have seen all of them before
except one.
The way that feathers have tiny hooks that allow them to be linked or unlinked
at will by birds is descibed. We are then told that "a textbook of the 1960s"
postulates that it would take 10^19 years for such complexity to evolve.
I am familiar with some arguments that arrive at absurd estimates of
probability for evolutionary events using unreal or wrong assumptions. Can
anybody locate this particular one for me?
