Now suppose light, radio, electricity is really particles working together
in some sort of way/fashion.

The question becomes:

How to encode information with a particle system.

I think electronics work with a lineair kind of encoding system:

When a signal is stable for a longer period it is considered to be a clear
signal.

The signal could be like a 1 or positive load, or a -1 or a negative load.

What if aliens decide to use a different kind of encoding for example:

A burst mode of particles is a big one. A little burst mode of particles is
a small zero.

Many particles could arrive at the same time indicating a big one.

Or only few particles could arrive at the same time indicating a small zero.

Then it more or less repeats like electronics, but the signal is not so
clear.

It can be anyhing within a certain range, actually this is probably how
electronics work as well.

However there is a difference.

Electronics use time to differiantate the signals.

However aliens might use "strongeness" to differentiate signals.

So the seti project might be setup wrongly:

The seti project is looking for a clear signal.

Maybe the should be looking for a "strong" signal at zero time.

When many many many many particles are received in only a very short time
could this be considered a very clear signal, ofcourse this could be an
explosion in space as well, who knows...

Amusing that aliens will broadcast a clear signal for a long period of time
is maybe foolish, this might also require waaayyy too much energy to keep
the signal strong for so long.

Very very very short burst of lots of power might be the way to go ?

Or maybe it would fade away to quickly ?

Who knows.... just some thoughts for ya there ! ;)

I might give the particle system a try, it's a simple way of getting it
done, but it will require lots of processor time to move each particle and
such....

Very nice example where multiple cores could handle many many many
particles.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Do you stop strangers in the street and just start one of your
tirades? I'd pay to film that secretly, I think it would be amusing.

That's it! The Big Bang was a message! I think it was a one.

I just made a little demo with a particle system I found on the
internet/world wide web.

It's kinda amazing and shocking for me to see.

There are these gravity wells which act like planets, I modified it so the
particles stop and seem to like hit the planet.

What is shocking to see is how many particles are lost and how many
particles end up spinning around the planets and galaxy.

If this is what happens to information signals then WOW big problem.

But it also makes me wonder:

1. How in godsname does NASA communicate with their voyager space probes ?

Shouldn't the signals of the space probe be diverted by the gravity of
jupiter and such ?

Does voyager send out so many particles, that always some will reach earth
no matter what ?

Or is there another explanation why the particles from the voyager space
craft reach earth ?

Are the particles/signals so fast and so light that they are almost not
effected by the gravity of jupiter and such ?

I need some answers to this so that's why I include the astronomy newsgroup
too.

Who can explain it ?

Bye,
Skybuck.

Gravity on radio waves.

Here is some info:

http://www.nrao.edu/pr/2003/gravity/

It mentions measuring the bending of radio waves that passed jupiter when
jupiter was in front of a quasar.

Apperently the radio waves are bend "slightly" whatever slighty means ;)

Now I wonder what would happen if many many many many many jupiters where in
front of it.

Could the radio waves actually turn around like space probes ? and go the
other direction ?

Or is this nearly impossible ?

Hmm then ofcourse black holes come to mind, which might do it or even suck
them up ? ;) :)

Bye,
Skybuck.
