" "They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is
coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service
to God.
And these things they will do, because they have not known the
Father, or Me. " Jn. 16:2,3
*********************************************************************************
as with all religions hoping for salvation by works alone apart from
grace, Sabbatarianism follows along this hope... preaching a doctrine
of commandment keeping for the forgiveness of sins.
beside the folly of Saturday church attendance, which in no way
defines Christianity ( Jn. 16:2,3 ) these hope for a means to
righteousness by standard beliefs held by all self-glory seekers...
their hope is in self-sanctification : " if i obey commandments i
won't commit a sin... if i don't commit a sin, i am
sanctifying myself. " which amounts to self-righteousness by the
avoidance of evil. note how Christ is left out by this fomular ?
wonderfully, the elect of God do not rest on works of man but on the
work of Christ, their Savior. ( no sense in calling Jesus the Savior
unless you know that being dead in trespasses and sins have resulted
in Him doing the saving... dead people do not reach out to Christ,
( Ro. 3:10-18 ) Christ does the reaching out Mt. 1:21 )
it is Jesus Christ Son of God... who "... by His doing you are in
Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and
sanctification, and redemption,
that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
1 Cor. 1;30,31
this is not the case with those showing the world their obedience to
Law keeping as the means to salvation. they prove it by their
insistence that they are righteous by Saturday church attendance and
Sunday church attendance is nothing more than sun worship.
interestingly enough, Jesus defines Saturday church attendance as
something which will not happen in a Christian's week as in
Jn. 16:2,3. this, the Millerites can't get around... as with all of
Satan's attacks against the elect.
then why would Jesus say that the Saturday worshipers will cast out
of their places of worship the elect Christian coming in who wants to
worship with them on Saturday ? Christ knew that in such places they
deny Him; they deny that Jesus is the Christ, and to wait for another.
the elect Christian will have no part in such filth.
so too, in Millerite thinking, Jesus is not the Savior. one must do
commandment keeping to make oneself worthy of God, and them. ( the
elect are referred to as ' infidels ' by them ) one must develope his
own means of sanctification by the avoidance of sin rather than trust
completely in Christ who's done it for me.
that is not a license to sin ( Ro. 6:15; 3:8 )
one will note that he is always directed by the Sabbatarians that
they only are the saved and its by their commandment keeping that
saves them... especially their Saturday church attendance... never the
work of Christ... just as Jesus says in Jn. 16:3 |
