determinism implies a closed system by which all occurences are a result
of prior causes, it implies there are no interventions by Gods, free will
or random events that would make the system indeterminate

the contradiction is that the prior causes would have to come from
outside the determined system

any rebuttal?

Yeah, the part about a closed system. What purpose does that serve in
the definition except to create the opening for the contradiction?
