Dick Cheney's Kobayashi Maru
"Am I the evil genius in the corner that nobody ever sees come out of
his hole?" Dick Cheney said. "It's a nice way to operate, actually."
- USA Today, January 19, 2004
Elephant Hunting as Practised by the Congo Pygmies.
Ever since I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted on perjury and
obstruction of justice charges March 6, there has been widespread
speculations in Washington that Dick Cheney might soon be replaced by
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Now for the past 8 years I have been fantasing daily of Bush's removal
from office by either impeachment, resignation or pretzel, and the
thought that Dick Cheney might soon be visiting the same "elephant's
graveyard" as Donald Rumsfield is pretty heady dream- especially
since Bush would now be sitting in the same crosshairs that took down
Cheney.
Except that wily bull elephant wasn't killed by the Pygmy Democrats,
only slightly wounded ......
And we all know what crazed elephants do when they wander off the
reservation.
If our U.S. Generals couldn't "coup" Dick last week inside the U.S.
military base in Afghanistan, why do you think a Libby, or a
bloodclot, could finish the job?
No, Dick Cheney's Kobayashi Maru tactic seems to be working.
And here's how he did it:
This is first time since 1928 that neither the sitting president nor
vice president has run for the Republican nomination.
In the three most recent presidential elections in which the president
was unable to run again - having already served two terms - the
incumbent vice president has run.
So far Cheney has declared he had no plans to run for president - like
anyone except a Halliburton employee would vote for him - and he knows
his place as Vice President has kept any would be "Hinkely" from
declaring his love for Jodie Foster by changing history.
And remember all those clown now running for the Republican nomination
- Fruity Rudy, John McPain, and Mitt the Morman? They are all too
aware that a Vice President Codi Rice would doom their chances of
being picked in Denver in 2008.
Because V.P. Richard Nixon ran to succeed Dwight Eisenhower but lost
in 1960, V.P. George H. W. Bush ran to succeed Ronald Reagan in 1988,
and won, and V.P. Al Gore ran to succeed Bill Clinton in 2000, and
lost to Bush.
And a V.P. Rice would have a better chance of getting the Repugizan
nomination that a "Draft Condi" effort would.
yep, somewhere out in the jungle tonight an elephant is hiding,
licking his wounds, and laughing at the possibility of a Condi vs
Hillary catfight in 2008.
The Pygmy Democrats, having watched Libby being trampled underfoot by
the beast, knows now that it will take more than blowdarts to bring
down the Cheney Leviathan.
They're hoping no-one will notice that their ace in the hole beats the
Democrats' pair:
Condi is blacker than Obama and more womanly than Hillary.
Everyone who hasn't already lost their minds yet knows the beast isn't
going anywhere soon.
If you doubt it, just ask our generals.....
