It is not my intention to spoil anyone's parade, today. But honor suggests
that one dissent from the idea that Americans have anything to celebrate,
July 4, 2008. For those who understand what today is supposed to
commemorate, the signing of the Declaration Of Independence, it must rather
be seen as a day for deep soul searching, followed by rededication for those
who have what it takes to challenge what has been happening.
The day should best start with a rereading of the Declaration:

Then take a little while to think about what you have read; about the brave
and intelligent men, who signed it. Offer a prayer of thanks, that there
once were such brave and intelligent men! Consider what they would think
about our present politics; our culture of dependence upon a Government far
bigger and far more remote from the individual American than was the
Government rejected 232 years ago; our betrayal by politicians urging ever
greater involvement with international movements, that threaten the
individuality of every Nation; those that seek to pretend that all peoples
are interchangeable--an absolute absurdity, being virtually taught in a
public school system, that has almost totally forgotten what the American
Revolution was actually about; what the Founding Fathers actually believed.
Consider that we are further betrayed by a Federal Government, that seems
absolutely incapable of any real or sustained effort to preserve the lands
and resources of the American people for their own posterity.
Two days ago, we posted a brief note in several news groups on the subject
of Senator Obama, as an "accidental American." Several of his supporters
were quick to take umbrage. But our point was not Obama, himself, but the
loss of an American identity that was so severe, that the normal gossip,
which one would expect, where one whose father was merely passing through,
had been nominated by our oldest political party for President, was not in
evidence. Of course, we were not trying to elevate gossip, itself, as a
virtue. But a study of the things that people gossip about, tells one a lot
about the psychology of a given people, at a given moment in time.
We are further adrift, than most mainstream Americans want to admit.

Correct. Why not try a bunch of another "declaration of independence":
- independence from foreign oil, by developing domestic renewable clean
energy and infrastructure to run it
- independence from trade deficit, by requiring the importers to export as
much as they import in order to have a balanced trade. It is quite strange
to me why exactly the same crooks who worship the "innovative power of
private sector" oppose such a regulation to leverage the creativity of
private sector to get rid of trade deficit
- independence from the corporate dictatorship, by changing the law so
workers elect half of the board of directors
- independence from deaths, sufferings and bankruptcies due to unaffordable
health care
- independence from poverty driven ignorance, by setting up admittance exams
to universities and colleges and each university or college to offer
federal scholarship to all candidates admitted within first half (or first
one third)
etc...
We have work to do after the end of firework show. Register to vote and ask
your representatives to implement this measures.

When I say "democratic", I use the word democratic coming from democracy not
from Democratic party. I am not connected in any way with Democratic party
and if they fail to do as promised and cut corporate corruption I have no

Your proposals all look to more, not less Government; more not less
dependence upon a remote collective power. These were clearly not the
values that brought America into being. The problem today, is that we
already have far too much of your collectivist measures. Take the time to

You just do not know how to discuss any subject without telegraphing your
need to rely on insult. Well, continue. It makes you ineffective except
with other leftists, who also need to constantly assert a philosophy that
denigrates traditional American culture.
Obviously, if I was aftaid of Obama, I would not be posting items such as
that which offends you. But I will say this for Obama, he deserves to be
better classified by his friends, than as simply a "bright intelligent black
man." He is at least half White; but that is only half of the point. His
black (negroid) ancestry, is not that of most Black Americans. His father
was of a small tribe (Luo) on the opposite side of Africa from the roots of
settled American Negroes. That is not a put down; but in makes my point,
about the lack of gossip, almost, if not as, applicable to Black Americans
as White Americans. Indeed, maybe it is even more applicable. The American
Negro, loses more jobs proportionately to new immigrants, than does the
American White. Indeed, Booker T. Washington's historic appeal to White

You get the level of debate you deserve. Galt for example is an
intelligent thoughtful and polite individual with whom I disagree
about a lot with. I respect him and will treat him accordingly. You

I'm gonna agree with George W Bush today:

The push toward "small-government" it is always driven by individuals
without enough education or brain power to understand how "free-market"
works.
Let assume that John is a farmer on the hills and Jimmy a farmer on the
valley.
In one year, a nasty flood destroy all Jimmy's crop. John a moral man, take
a load of food and donate it to Jimmy so his family can survive till next

are eliminated from the market by bankruptcy, and as a result EVERY
SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN OR CORPORATION IT IS AN IMMORAL ENTITY.
Here is where a democratic government regulations are good for the society.
The government can either punish some entities who behave too immoral and
they also can provide a safety-net to make the moral less dependent by the
will of immoral. As a result, government regulations prevent the immoral to
abuse and enslave the moral.
Therefore, ONLY THE IMMORAL FANATICALLY WANT LESS GOVERNMENT AND LESS
REGULATIONS. A moral businessman will always favor a more regulated
economy, where in exchange for a higher taxes he gets some safety-net and a
set of rules to prevent the crooks to abuse the civilized. So, if you want
to see who the crooks are look at who is pushing for deregulation and less
government.
